FishSource Researchers Program

FishSource is SFP's answer for companies to obtain this information It provides a freely available, open access online resource; that consolidates the main scientific information that seafood buyers and their expert advisers need when evaluating the sustainability of individual fisheries.

Fishsource relies on an online contributor network(similar to moderated;wiki)to collect and summarize this information - basic data such  as stock status, fisheries management practices, gear technology or impacts on endangered species, and habitats.

We need researchers trained in marine biology, stock assessment science, fishery management, or related fields to contribute material on individual issues in individual fisheries. We supply you with standardized forms for preparing and organizing the information.

General sources for the information include stock assessment reports from organizations officially engaged on assessing stocks; scientific publications on fish and fisheries dynamics, fish population biology, environmental aspects of fishing; sustainability analyses, ratings and references from NGOs, including publicly available Marine Stewardship Council assessment reports; and official online databases on fisheries statistics and legislation.
