Position:  Metrics Program Coordinator

Consultancy Summary: 

This 6-month, contract position supports SFP’s Markets Program and ideally from Europe or the UK. With oversight and direction from the Market Engagement Director for UK & International Brands, the consultant will assist the Markets team with delivering services that meet and exceed partner expectations, and provide other support as necessary with projects, events, and reporting that is critical to maintaining those partnerships. This contract position will primarily help users of an online data collection platform – Seafood Metrics - and will provide reporting and data analysis support. The consultant will also work closely with other teams within SFP to achieve the necessary outcomes.  

Activities and Deliverables:

Project Coordination - Seafood Metrics (70%)

  • Conduct onboarding and provide timely support for new and existing partners and suppliers by way of trainings, webinars, phone calls, and other means of communication
  • Work with SFP’s Seafood Metrics system users (e.g., SFP Partners) and their suppliers to make sure seafood data is being captured properly; develop and deliver reports for users, and identify needs for future updates to the system
  • Liaise with FishSource team to capture new source fishery and farm requests in Seafood Metrics system and see the request through
  • Work with SFP’s IT team to ensure Seafood Metrics platform and service is working properly, troubleshoot when necessary, report and track bug fixes, provide feedback on development priorities, and test new system features and functionality
  • Work closely with partner leads on SFP’s Markets team to provide support, to ensure that partners’ Seafood Metrics needs are being met and leads are aware of any challenges or new service opportunities, and to coordinate Seafood Metrics reporting back to partners

Program Coordination - General (30%)

  • Provide general coordination support for other SFP efforts including the Ocean Disclosure Project, reports to Supply Chain Roundtable leads, and related communications
  • Maintain organizational information for partners and suppliers in Salesforce
  • Provide administrative support for SFP’s Markets team, including preparing invoices and supporting renewals 
  • Assist partner leads on SFP’s Markets team with planning and executing annual events (to be held virtually), including tracking participation, providing logistical support, developing materials, coordinating email marketing (e.g. via Mailchimp), and other related tasks 

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Based in Europe or the UK
  • Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis on marine/fishery science, environmental policy, and/or business administration
  • Business acumen to understand the needs of the private sector
  • Experience with data analysis and presentation
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish with exceptional writing skills and comfortable in a public speaking environment
  • Available to travel 15-20 days, including domestic and international destinations
  • Ability to work within a framework of responsibilities and objectives without (or with limited) in-person supervision
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality
  • Cultural awareness to work and communicate effectively with diverse colleagues
  • Scheduling flexibility to facilitate interactions with globally dispersed colleagues
  • Ability to work comfortably and effectively in a mostly or fully online environment:  work-from-home arrangements, strong practical knowledge of productivity software and/or platforms (i.e., Word, Excel, email & other common business communication tools), ability to learn new technology with ease, etc.Flexibility to effectively balance independent initiative with team collaboration 

Additional/Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with or in the seafood industry, and working knowledge of seafood supply chains
  •  Demonstrable experience working on seafood/fisheries sustainability initiatives as well as fisheries improvement efforts
  • Advanced understanding of seafood supply chains, including wild/farmed seafood production, key seafood sectors, and an understanding of retail and foodservice sectors as it relates to seafood
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or similar project management and CRM software 

Level of Effort: This is a full-time consultancy for 6 months.  Level of Effort is expected to be 40 hours per week. The anticipated start date is 9 November 2020. 

Compensation: Competitive and negotiable consulting rate, based on experience and qualifications
